1 DESCRIPTION
The two-wide CAMAC 289 module is a beam sync event request qualifier. It is used in the Main Injector and Recycler beam sync clock systems to inhibit transfer events if the downstream transfer lines and destination machines are not prepared for beam at the time the request for the event occurs. A brief description of the affected events and required permits can be found in Operations Bulletin #1287. The present version of the C289 is a one of a kind built on a single kluge card. (Two CAMAC slots are required to accommodate the front panel I/O connectors.)
The event requests are sourced from the C280, C281 and C285 modules in the Beam Sync systems. The event request inputs are all via the P1 connector on the front panel, with the permitted outputs via P2.
The transfer permits are sourced by the respective BP/Abort systems along with the C202 modules located in MI crate $94. The C202 modules create the 150 GeV, 120 GeV and 8 GeV transfer permit inputs. The permit inputs to the module are all via the rear panel viking connector.
When an event request is inhibited, an output is generated to encode a MIBS $ED (Event Request Denied).
2 CAMAC 289 OP CODES
Q and X are returned immediately for all valid
codes.
