RIL - RFQ FFWD

If one needs to turn off the FFWD for the RFQ system, go to L2 subpage BU and MOD page and turn off L:RQRPGD (RFQ Rev Power Gate Delay).

CAUTION: Consult LMC before attempting to turn FFWD off.

NMR Regulation Loop

Parameters are collected at L8 BPM/LM <8>.
TV Channel: 8 GeV, channel 8.
Application: L23 <61F><22>

Turn the loop ON using L:SPEC. If the NMR is locked, a light indicator on the
front panel of the box will be lid. You don't have to go local to check this.
Simply tune on 8GeV channel 8.

If these conditions are fulfilled, light is lid and the regulation loop is ON, you start seeing
L:SPECT and L:SPECR changing in order to maintain the NMR at the desired field defined by the nominal of L:SPEC.
The loop is now ON and playing.

LRF5 modulator switching


Before switching in either Directions:
  • LOTO both modulators

Switch from MARX to old modulator
7835 Anode:
  • Disconnect the RG220 cable from the High Voltage box sitting in the cable tray and connect it to the fitting on the top of the old modulator.
A5 rack:
  • Disconnect the interlocks cable from the lower PLC and connect it to the Pulse Interlock Module.
  • Disconnect the "Driver Start" and "Driver Stop" cables from the green RG-58 cables going to the Marx, and connect them to the "Driver Start" and "Driver Stop" bulkheads on the back of the NIM crate.
  • Disconnect the "RF Gate" cable from the green RG-58 cable labeled "LLRF Gate" and connect it to the bulkhead labeled "Mixer" on the back of the NIM crate.
  • Disconnect the green RG-58 cable labeled "Beam Toroid" from the back of the LLRF patch panel on the bulkhead labeled "FEED-FOR", and connect in its place the black RG-58 cable labeled "Feed-For".
Switch from old modulator to MARX
7835 Anode:
  • Disconnect the RG220 cable from the top of the old modulator and connect it to the High Voltage box sitting in the cable tray.
A5 rack:
  • Disconnect the interlocks cable from the Pulse Interlock Module and connect it to the lower PLC.
  • Disconnect the "Driver Start" and "Driver Stop" cables from the back of the NIM crate, and connect them to the green RG-58 cables labeled "Driver Start" and "Driver Stop" going to the Marx.
  • Disconnect the "RF Gate" cable from back of the NIM create( bulkhead labeled "Mixer" ), and connect it to the green RG-58 cable labeled "LLRF Gate" going to the Marx.
  • Disconnect the black RG-58 cable labeled "Feed-For" from the back of the LLRF patch panel on the bulkhead labeled "FEED-FOR", and connect in its place the green RG-58 cable labeled "Beam Toroid".
Note:
All cables that need to be connected / disconnected / moved in the A5 rack are tagged, saying where to connect them for which system.

Klystrons Gradient and Phase Setting

The Gradient loop regulates to the nominal value of L:C#GRAD.
You must restart the loop for it to regulate to the new value.
To restart the Loop, turn off and then on L:K#LPGN.
The Phase loop regulates to the setting of L:C#PHAS.
You do not have to restart the loop for it to regulate to the new value.

Klystron LLRF Magnitude and Phase loops

Adjust the line stretcher until the phase (green trace) is at the same level with and without gradient, with the phase loop off (L:L#PHEN)

Adjust the attenuator so that the gradient (yellow trace) is at the same level with and without the magnitude loop on (L:L#MGEN)

Klystron FeedForward timers

Devices to ba adjusted

L:L#MT2 -> adjust this device until there is no up bump at the
beginning of the pulse. (Oh yeah...it helps if you are looking at
the gradient trace. Go to Scopes link)

Set L:L#PHT2 to the same value.
