Document being reviewed:
Tevatron Beam Position Monitor Upgrade Requirements
Goal:
To review the measurement requirements for the proposed BPM upgrade.
Upon approval, the project will advance to the technical design phase.
Review Committee:
Don Edwards (Chair)
Alan Baumbaugh
Mike Church
Mike Harrison (BNL)
John Marriner
Dave McGinnis
Mike Syphers
Charge:
- Are the requirements described in the document adequate for the
needs of Run II as they are perceived today and as they may evolve?.
There is no doubt about the need for measurement accuracy beyond the
current 0.15 mm limit of the existing anolog to digintal converters,
and we can probably agree that 20 micrometer level is
reasonable. Or do we?
- Are we paying adequate attention to the distant future? The
present system is 20 years old, and
the Tevatron must survive for at least another couple of decades.
