Restarting a DAE/DSE
requires a web browser located on one of the PCs located in the main control
room (cns1pc – cns11pc). Point the web
browser to the DAE/DSE needing a restart by typing in the DAE/DSE machine name
followed by “:5801”.
The following screen shots
show an example of restarting DSE04.
After typing in the URL, you
should see the desktop for the chosen DAE/DSE.
The desktop resembles the look and feel of the Windows95 desktop. Select the window titled
“DataAcquisitionEngine” if not already
selected. If the window is not visible
and it can’t be located on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen then proceed
to “Reboot the DAE/DSE Machine”. Otherwise,
Click on the “File” menu and choose
“Exit” to quit the “DataAcquisitionEngine” application.
To get the DAE/DSE running again, click on the Start button and select the “Start DAE” menu option as show in the screen below. The menu item is named “Start DAE” for DAEs and DSEs.
You should now once again
see the window titled “DataAcquisitionEngine”.
The DAE/DSE is now successfully restarted.
Every so often the
“DataAcquisitionEngine” application main window might disappear making it
impossible to exit in the preferred manner.
If this is the case then click the “Start” menu and navigate the menus
as show below finally selecting “Really Really Reboot this whole machine”. Once the machine starts the reboot process,
the web browser window will display an error message. The DAE/DSE will automatically be restarted upon bootup.
